The Mets-Astros series promises to draw a large number of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of New Jersey native and Astros second baseman, Craig Biggio, in one of his last outings. Parks Department officials are anticipating the need for additional parking spaces on the weekend of September 7-9, when the Mets face the Houston Astros at Shea Stadium. The US Tennis Association operates the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows- Corona Park where professional tennis players gather each year to vie for a title at the US Open tennis tournament. “Providing a specific number of parking spaces is part of the license agreement,” Parks Department sources said. Negotiations to reduce the number of spaces needed for USTA parking during the US Open are tempered by a license agreement between the city and the US Tennis Association.
